Farm stands, orchards and public gardens round out a trip to the garden center. Wilmington is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Wilmington is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across North Carolina's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Beautiful gardens. Nice walk with lots of shade and a breeze throughout the trails and walkway. Not too busy (we went on a Tuesday morning). Really nice for dates, families, or photos.

This garden offers a beautiful showcase of the Spanish moss in the area and also other native plants. The butterfly room was a wonderful experience. The trails are not too hard to walk. Itβs easy just to sit and relax and take it all in.

First time at the gardens, loved them. Serene, lots of areas to sit and watch nature, also lots of walking areas, family and kid friendly, and many interesting areas. I think they do tours. The kids loved the butterfly house so many butterflies in there. My favorite was the Pergola garden which has steps the end in the Airlie lake and had lots of turtles that came right to the steps. I even saw several blue herons.

Really enjoyed our visit to Airlie Gardens. The grounds are well kept and easy to walk, and thereβs more to see than you might expect. The Airlie Oak is impressive, over 400 years old and massive. The lake is a nice focal point as you move through the property, and the Bottle Chapel was a highlight we werenβt anticipating. The Butterfly House was a fun finish to the visit. If youβre in Wilmington itβs an easy yes. Reasonably priced, beautiful setting, and worth a couple of hours of your time.

Remarkable value for a remarkably beautiful place, all for $10. The oak trees alone are worth the visit β majestic and well-maintained. The flowers weren't in bloom during our early summer visit, so early spring is likely the ideal time to go for the full effect. Versatile enough for families, couples, or a casual evening out. Also an exceptional backdrop for wedding photography or photo shoots in general. Highly recommend.
